Nelson Chandler represents clients in South Carolina state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels.  With a background in complex civil litigation, Nelson focuses on the active defense of claims and lawsuits on behalf of individuals, state agencies and municipalities, businesses, and insurers.  His regular areas of practice include governmental liability, constitutional violations, employment disputes, professional liability, and product liability.   Nelson has briefed and argued cases before the appellate courts of South Carolina resulting in published opinions in favor of his clients, and he routinely handles appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. 

 

Nelson has managed his own legal practice for over fifteen years, following a decade of experience working for large regional law firms.  Nelson regularly serves as local counsel for out-of-state firms in a variety of civil matters.  Nelson is a licensed Circuit Court mediator.  He is rated as AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.  Outside of his practice, Nelson serves on the Board of Directors of SC Humanities and is active in his church.  Nelson previously served on the Board of the South Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
